Foundation fundraising for new Kori Bartholomew Grant for CPS teachers
CONWAY, Ark. (August 22, 2023) − The Conway Public Schools Foundation is working to establish a new endowed grant for Conway Public School District teachers in honor of the late Kori Bartholomew, a longtime Conway Public Schools supporter, former Conway High School staff member, and mother of two daughters who attend Conway High School.
The endowed grant will be part of the Foundation’s Classroom Impact Grant program. Since 2007, the nonprofit foundation has awarded more than $150,000 in grants to Conway educators.
Conway Public Schools Foundation Executive Director Marti Jones announced the new endowed grant at the district’s back-to-school convocation.
“I know Kori had an impact on so many,” she said, adding that Bartholomew’s husband and their daughters are honored that Kori will be remembered “supporting the teachers she loved so much.”
Bartholomew, who died last year, worked for eight years in the front office at Conway High School, where she embodied a mother’s love to more than 2,000 students each school year. She was a smiling face to every student, parent, and teacher who visited the high school. She left behind an enormous legacy of love and a huge void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
The foundation has raised $10,000 toward its $15,000 endowment goal with support from local businesses, including a $5,000 gift from Centennial Bank and two $2,500 gifts from Malvern National Bank and Reliance HealthCare.
The foundation will work to raise the balance with gifts from friends, former colleagues, and other local businesses.
“Once we secure an endowment of at least $15,000, the Kori Bartholomew Classroom Impact Grant will be awarded yearly to a teacher in our district to enhance the experience of students in their classroom,” Jones said. “I know for a fact that I will be awarding the first Kori Bartholomew Classroom Impact Grant right here at next year’s convocation.”
